The new BMW G 310 R

Fresh wind for the Dynamic Roadster

With its powerful, dynamic single-cylinder, the BMW G 310 R opened up the world of BMW Motorrad Dynamic Roadsters for the engine segment below 500 cc when it was released in 2015. The Dynamic Roadster thrilled many customers all over the world, especially beginners. To ensure that this remains the case in the future, BMW Motorrad has made the BMW G 310 R fit for the future and has made a number of optimizations.

With its powerful, dynamic single-cylinder, the BMW G 310 R opened up the world of BMW Motorrad Dynamic Roadsters for the engine segment below 500 cc when it was released in 2015. Fast and agile in the city, confident and powerful on the country road – this is how the lively, precise Dynamic Roadster thrilled many customers all over the world, especially beginners. To ensure that this remains the case in the future, BMW Motorrad has made the BMW G 310 R fit for the future and has made a number of optimizations.

EU-5 homologation single-cylinder engine with e-gas, automatic idle lift and self-reinforcing anti-hopping clutch.

The heart of the new BMW G 310 R is still the proven 313 cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine with four valves, two overhead camshafts and electronic fuel injection. As a constructive characteristic, the cylinder inclination remains to the rear and the cylinder head rotated 180 degrees with inlet at the front and outlet at the rear. This arrangement follows the logic of an optimal combustion air flow and results in a particularly compact architecture of the vehicle. With an output of 25 kW (34 hp) at 9 500 rpm and a maximum torque of 28 Nm at 7 500 rpm, the single-cylinder of the new BMW G 310 R is also the ideal partner for dynamic roadster pleasure in the current EU-5 homologation.

For use in the new BMW G 310 R, the engine was equipped with a so-called "electronic gas handle" (e-gas) and now offers an even more sensitive gas reception. An automatic idle lift during start-up also prevents a possible sudden death of the engine. Also new is the self-reinforcing anti-hopping clutch. It reduces the engine towing torque and brings a significant increase in driving safety – especially for braking manoeuvres that are connected with simultaneous shutdown. It also offers significantly reduced operating forces on the clutch hand lever.

New LED headlights and LED flashing lights – see and be seen optimally.

If the BMW G 310 R already had a brake light in LED technology, the new BMW G 310 R now has a full LED headlamp for even better visibility during night driving and LED flashing lights for increased visibility in traffic. The new LED headlight not only offers particularly bright and homogeneous illumination of the roadway. The three light functions remote and dipped-beam light – as well as the daytime running light depending on the country – can be conveniently operated via the left handlebar valve.

Four-stage adjustable hand levers for brake and clutch.

Both the clutch and handbrake levers are now four-stage adjustable. They now offer ergonomic advantages, especially for people with small hands. The stage 3 of the brake lever adjustment corresponds to the previous grip width. In position 1, the brake lever moves 6 mm closer to the handlebars.

Gently reworked design with two attractive basic colours and the exclusive style version "Sport".

Dynamics and agility are also reflected in the design of the new BMW G 310 R. The visual relationship to sporty family members such as the BMW S 1000 R is unmistakable. This is also reflected in the colour concept of the Dynamic Roadster. All three colour variants of the BMW G 310 R are combined with the motor housing covers of generator, clutch and water pump, which are now painted in titanium grey metallic, as well as the footrest plates and passenger holding handles.

In addition to the basic colour Cosmicblack uni and emphasized masculine touch, Polarweiss uni is now another basic variant to choose from, which, in combination with blue lacquered batches, represents the traditional BMW house colours in a fresh, dynamic way. In the Style Sport with the basic colour Limestone metallic, striking red "R" graphics on the panelside panels as well as red for frames and rims, the new BMW G 310 R confidently shows its sporty side.
