Photos: Ducati perfect symbiosis of two self-confident brands
Ducati and Bentley are proud to announce a new limited edition motorcycle that celebrates the special characteristics of the two iconic brands: the Ducati Diavel for Bentley.
Born from the collaboration between the two manufacturers, the project combines Ducati and Bentley with a vision of performance, craftsmanship and exclusivity. The result is an impressive synthesis of technology, style and performance that makes lovers dream. The motorcycle was unveiled to the public with a "Fuorisalone" event as part of Art Basel Week in Miami Beach, the overseas edition of Europe's most prestigious contemporary art fair.
Building on the advanced technical basis of the powerful and comfortable Diavel V4, Ducati has incorporated many of the style-defining elements of the Bentley Batur - a small-batch model handcrafted by Bentley - to create a motorcycle that is unique in terms of elegance and design. The Diavel for Bentley will be produced in a numbered series limited to 500+50 pieces, the latter reserved exclusively for Bentley customers.
Centro Stile Ducati, in collaboration with Bentley's designers, has created a new design for this particular bike, inspired by the Batur from which the Diavel borrows the pronounced horizontal lines from the side view. Elegant and sophisticated, the Scarab Green paintwork, with its richness of metallic shades, comes from the Bentley Mulliner palette and can be found on the trim parts.
The resolute and aggressive lines of the Diavel V4 have also been profoundly revised in terms of the technical components: many of the characteristic features of the Batur are taken up in various components of the bike. The forged rims, designed and manufactured specifically for this motorcycle, are reminiscent of the car's rims and are painted in Dark Titanium Satin, leaving some machined surfaces unpainted.
The side air intakes take up the design of the two-tone grille - one of the most characteristic elements of the Batur. The triangular rear outlets refer to the corresponding elements of the vehicle. The front fender, fairing and top view of the tank are reminiscent of the ribs on the hood. The cover of the pillion seat borrows a lot of styling borrowings from the rear of the vehicle. For rides with a pillion, the cover can be replaced with the seat supplied.
Many fairing parts are made of high-quality carbon (fenders, headlight covers, engine, exhaust and radiator covers, radiator grilles, side panels, rear section).
The black Alcantara driver's seat is inspired by the car's interior. It is made in precision work that reveals the red fabric underneath with the same texture as the Batur seats with an embroidered Bentley logo. The dual exhaust with its cover has been redesigned to better harmonize with the bike's revised lines.
The Batur is Bentley's most powerful production car ever, with a 740hp twin-turbo W12 engine. Only 18 units were built. In addition, the Batur combines the highest Bentley craftsmanship with a sculptural, muscular body that defines a new design DNA for Bentley and sets a new design direction for the brand. The visual message conveys power and elegance, without ostentation and excess. The 18 examples of the Batur will be individually handcrafted by Mulliner, the world's oldest coachbuilder and Bentley's in-house bespoke department.
In addition to the 500 examples of the Diavel for Bentley, Ducati also offers a series of only 50 examples, the Diavel for Bentley Mulliner. The 50 Diavel for Bentley Mulliners will be available exclusively to Bentley customers, who will be able to configure their Diavel for Bentley Mulliners with different colours for the seat, front calipers, carbon parts and rims in direct collaboration with the designers at Centro Stile Ducati. For the trim parts, they can choose the same colour as their vehicle or one of the exclusive colours selected by the Crewe-based company's designers.
The Diavel for Bentley, like all Ducati collector's models, comes with a certificate of authenticity and a drapery. The name of the model and the production number are engraved on a plate embedded in the carbon cover of the cylinder head on the right side of the motorcycle. Both the TFT colour display, which is equipped with a turn-by-turn navigation device as standard, and the LED matrix of the rear light, have a special animation when starting, which makes the Diavel for Bentley even more distinctive. Each Diavel for Bentley comes in an exclusive, personalized wooden box.
The collaboration between the two manufacturers has also led to the creation of a capsule collection reserved for Diavel for Bentley owners. It allows customers to complete their look with a limited edition jet helmet and leather jacket with protectors (available in a men's and a women's version), characterized by a color scheme that echoes that of the motorcycle.
The Diavel for Bentley is equipped with the 1,158cc V4 engine, which is a central element of the design and at the same time a highly developed technical solution. It is powerful (168 hp), high torque (126 Nm), but also extremely light and compact and has a smooth power delivery. Even at low revs, the engine responds very well. The Twin Pulse ignition sequence, combined with the special exhaust system, provides an unmistakable sound.
