Borgo Panigale (Bologna, Italy), March 18, 2021 – With the conclusion of the challenging year 2020, Ducati has underlined the solidity that the Italian motorcycle manufacturer has already demonstrated in recent years. Despite the complex global situation and the seven-week production freeze in the middle of the high season, 48,042 (2019: 53,183) motorcycles were delivered to customers around the world, limiting sales to -9.7% compared to 2019.
At the end of 2020, sales amounted to EUR 676 million (2019: EUR 716 million), while operating profit amounted to EUR 24 million (2019: EUR 52 million) with an operating margin of 4%. Special growth markets compared to 2019 were China (+26%), Germany (+6.7%) Switzerland (+11.1%). The main market for Ducati remains Italy, followed by the USA.
Sales per motorcycle rose to 14,883 euros (2019: 13,500 euros), the highest figure in the company's history. This reflects the strategy of consistently expanding the product range towards a high-quality market segment.

Claudio Domenicali, CEO Ducati Motor Holding, explains:"2020 has indeed been a challenging year, but we are consistently satisfied with our financial situation. Thanks to strict discipline, we were able to reduce fixed costs and thus limit the decline in the operating margin. At the same time, the reduction in inventories had a positive impact on cash flow, which thus reached the highest level in our history. Investments in new products remained untouched, paving the way for a future positive development of Ducati.
A heartfelt thank you goes to the women and men at Ducati, who contribute every day with passion and dedication to the strength and success of the company – also and especially in this very complex and difficult year."

Based on the solid financial foundation, we were able to maintain these important pillars even in the challenging times. We are pleased that we have been able to successfully lead Ducati through such a challenging situation as in 2020 and are confident of starting 2021 to recover much faster than originally expected."
Ducati is entering the new financial year full of energy, based on the continuous support of its employees, who have made the results made possible so far.

In 2020, the Italian motorcycle manufacturer was once again awarded the "Top Employer Italy" certificate as one of the most attractive employers in Italy, which it has now been awarded for the seventh time in a row. Last year, Ducati, with its 1,800 employees, was able to react quickly to the changing world of work brought about by the pandemic. As early as the beginning of March, an internal working group took care of the cross-divisional pooling of competences in order to optimise processes and ensure constant and transparent communication with employees. This resulted in numerous initiatives to support employees and their families, such as .B maximum flexibility of working hours and assistance in finding home care services for children and the elderly via the company's welfare platform.
The Ducati distribution network consists of 738 dealers in over 90 countries. Delivery of the new series begins in 2021, including the Ducati Scrambler Fasthouse and the new Monster, the motorcycle that embodies the essence of Ducati in its lightest, most compact and purist form. The new Multistrada V4, SuperSport 950 and Ducati Scrambler Nightshift are already available from Ducati dealers worldwide.
From March, Ducati will compete again at the MotoGP World Championship, building on the constructors' world title of 2020. Ducati will also take part in the Superbike World Championship, which will begin in May.
