1. Introduction
In the slipstream of the successful CB750 Hornet, Honda is following up with the all-new CB1000 Hornet for 2025, with an aggressive design, breathtaking four-cylinder performance, high-quality chassis components and premium equipment.
The CB750 Hornet revived the Hornet model name for the 2023 season. The combination of streetfighter silhouette, pulling power and light-footed agility generated plenty of admiration and impressive sales – it's not for nothing that the bike immediately became the best-selling naked bike in Europe.
The flawless reputation of the Hornet models dates back to the 1990s. First, the four-cylinder CB600F Hornet caused a sensation, followed in the early 2000s by the CB900F Hornet with Fireblade heart. The recipe was very well received, after all, both hornets were dynamic, entertaining and affordable at the same time.
But back to the present: After the CB750 Hornet, the revitalized naked concept was further revived in 2024 with the CB500 Hornet for beginners. For 2025, the new CB1000 Hornet and the high-end variant CB1000 Hornet SP* will follow as spearheads of the model family.
The 2025 CB1000 Hornet shines with powerful performance, offers remarkable value for money and turns the voltage regulator to maximum right from the start. Powered by the 2017 CBR1000RR Fireblade engine and designed as a powerful cocktail of inline four-cylinder power and ultra-precise handling, the CB1000 Hornet promises maximum driving pleasure on winding back roads as well as on pulsating city boulevards.

2. Model overview
The concept of the new CB1000 Hornet combines impressive four-cylinder performance and ultra-precise handling. The 152 hp (111.6 kW) engine comes from the 2017 CBR1000RR Fireblade, and the chassis is completely redesigned. The ambitiously implemented combination enables maximum naked bike riding fun - from city hotspots to winding side roads, the CB1000 Hornet is in its element.
The advanced Throttle By Wire throttle grip management offers three pre-configured riding modes (Sport, Standard, Rain), whose parameters are made up of power, engine braking behavior and HSTC traction control with integrated wheelie control. Two user options allow the driver to bundle his individual setup. A 5-inch TFT colour display in the cockpit combines comprehensive information with the best readability, even in sunny light conditions thanks to "optical bonding" technology. Smartphone connectivity is guaranteed via the integrated RoadSync system, and operation can be done by voice or via a four-way switch on the left handlebar dashboard.
The minimalist cool design is bursting with dynamism, and the concentrated gaze of the LED twin headlights matches this. The new double-loop frame and Pro-Link aluminium swingarm are also a visual statement. The blackened Showa 41 mm SFF-BP USD front fork and a Showa monoshock ensure the high-quality function of the suspension elements. Four-piston radial brake calipers and floating 310 mm brake discs are installed on the front wheel. Lightweight-inspired cast wheels of the CBR1000RR-R Fireblade are fitted with 120/70-ZR17 (front) and 180/55-ZR17 (rear) tyres.
The CB1000 Hornet's enormous performance potential, high-quality spec, compact dimensions and refreshing style merge into a powerhouse that no one can ignore and is intended to appeal to naked bike enthusiasts in particular.
The new 2025 Honda CB1000 Hornet will be available in three colors:
3. Equipment features
3.1 Engine
At its core, the heart of the CB1000 Hornet is a Fireblade power plant. The 1000 cc DOHC four-cylinder engine comes from the 2017 CBR1000RR and inspires with breathtaking performance, exemplary smoothness and user-friendliness. Sporty high performance (152 hp/111.6 kW at 11,000 rpm), plenty of torque (104 Nm at 9,000 rpm) and thrilling punch are available across the entire rev range.
A number of design details help to fine-tune character and performance for naked bikes. The camshafts (at stroke and timing) have been adjusted to match the power delivery. The shape and strength of the die-cast pistons have been optimized. The oil pan as well as the clutch and alternator covers are made of cast aluminum.
The transmission has also been revised in a practical way. Gears two to five have been optimized for powerful acceleration and are a perfect fit for naked bike requirements, while sixth gear allows for lower-rev riding on the highway. The slipper clutch helps to avoid a stamping rear wheel during hard, fast downshifts and simultaneous braking.
The tank has a capacity of 17 litres, and consumption is an economical 5.9 litres per 100 km.
The bore and stroke measure 76 and 55.1 mm respectively, and the compression ratio is 11.7:1. The 44 mm diameter throttle body directs the air-fuel mixture into carefully designed combustion chambers via large-diameter intake valves. A lightweight 4-2-1 exhaust supports power delivery in the mid-rev range.
An extended lambda sensor system with OBD2 interface allows precise monitoring of the air/fuel components for compliance with emissions according to the Euro 5+ emission standard.
3.2 Engine electronics
Thanks to modern Throttle By Wire throttle management, the CB1000 Hornet comes in three pre-configured riding modes: Sport, Standard and Rain. These riding modes offer different combinations of the adjustable parameters (engine power, engine braking, HSTC traction control and integrated Wheelie Control). Two individually configurable user modes are available for this purpose. The riding modes are managed via the four-way switch on the left handlebar control and the TFT display.
The engine power and engine braking effect can each be adjusted in three stages.
There are four levels to choose from for HSTC traction control (Honda Selectable Torque Control) including integrated Wheelie Control; in addition, this function can also be switched off completely.
3.3 Chassis
In the double-spar frame made of steel, the engine has a supporting function. Despite the deliberately slim design in the area of the swingarm mount (to achieve a narrow waist typical of the Hornet), the torsional stiffness is significantly (by 70%) higher than that of the predecessor CB1000R. The steering geometry is designed for precise steering with agile handling for winding country roads and alternating curves.
The engine is suspended in rubber mounts in the rear area and firmly screwed to the front mounts. This combination helps to absorb vibrations and improve the riding experience.
The developers composed the frame geometry from a 25-degree fork angle, 98 mm caster and 1,455 mm wheelbase. The engine installation position with front-wheel-oriented weight distribution also supports the inspiringly agile and easy handling. The pro-link monoshock and the installation position of the battery contribute to the centralization of the masses. Another advantage of bodywork packaging is that the airbox is located above the cylinder head and not behind it. The curb weight is 211 kg with a full tank of fuel and the weight distribution is 51.2 to 48.8 %.
The seating position is convincing on dynamic excursions and tours as well as in everyday life. The seat height is 809 mm. The pleasantly wide, tapered handlebar is paired with a sporty footrest position and a seat triangle with a slightly forward, upright posture.
The front wheel carries a Showa 41 mm SFF-BP upside-down fork (Separate Function Fork Big Piston), where spring preload, rebound and compression damping are adjustable. The Showa shock with separate pressure vessel cushions the cast aluminum rear swingarm via a Pro-Link lever system and features adjustable rebound damping. The swingarm measures 619.1 mm in length and offers a perfectly tuned stiffness balance for optimal grip and feedback.
A radial handbrake pump operates the twin disc system with radially mounted Nissin four-piston brake calipers that access 310 mm floating discs. The rear 240 mm disc is equipped with a Nissin single-piston brake caliper. Lightweight cast aluminum rims with five Y-spokes are based on the lightweight construction concept of the CBR1000RR-R Fireblade. The tire dimensions are 120/70-ZR17 at the front and 180/55-ZR17 at the rear.
3.4 Styling & Equipment
The visual presence of the large Hornet is puristic and energetic at the same time, and timeless purity characterizes the design created in Japan. The style combines sensual dynamics with sharply reduced, yet balanced proportions.
Eye-catching LED twin headlights define the front signature. The silhouette contrasts with a broad-shouldered tank and tapered rear end. The narrow waist of the seat unit underlines the traditional Hornet look. The frame also serves as a design feature and, like the grille-like rear frame, underlines the lines. The engine, wheels and the cast aluminium swingarm are black. The tapered steel handlebar is perfectly at hand and supports the active riding position.
The 5-inch TFT color display uses "Optical Bonding" technology to improve readability in bright sunlight. Sealing the gap between the cover glass and the TFT screen with resin reduces glare and improves the backlight transmittance. Three options can be called up for the display (bar, circle or standard display).
Honda RoadSync connectivity allows Android or iOS smartphones to be used for turn-by-turn navigation, email, telephony, music and weather news. A headset in the helmet is required for voice-controlled use, and the smartphone must also be connected to the vehicle via Bluetooth. The corresponding RoadSync app can be downloaded free of charge from the Play Store or the App Store. It is controlled via the four-way switch on the left-hand switch fitting.
The rear turn signals also have an ESS (Emergency Security System) function. During hard, sudden braking manoeuvres, the turn signals flash like hazard lights to warn following road users.
