Internationally renowned tattoo artist Mayonaize is the first to immortalize himself on the brand new Indian Chief as part of the collaboration between "Indian Motorcycle X No Regrets"

Indian Motorcycle unveils the first of three unique tattoo art-inspired designs for the new Indian Chief. The New Zealand artist Mayonaize will be followed in the next two months by Shige from Japan and Carlos Torres from the USA.

Mayonaize, or mayo, was born in New Zealand, lives and works in Melbourne, Australia. He is known for bold, calligraphic font designs with a unique visual style. Mayo's designs are in great demand, not only as a tattoo artist, but also as a painter. His portfolio of exhibited works of art ranges from street art to canvas paintings and large-scale wall paintings.

Mayo painted his Chief design by hand on large-format stencils before it was photographed and transferred to the tank and fenders according to his exact specifications.

Mayonaize comments on the design process: "I think the most interesting part is the way all the shapes of the bike fit together. I love the construction of the bike, so I was very interested in highlighting this. You don't just want to do something that has nothing to do with the flow of the motorcycle. A bike has lines, just as a body has lines and a flow – the center of the motorcycle is the tank and the engine underneath, so you want to highlight the parts of the body that are most interesting.

Mayonaize's design will be applied to a real Indian Chief at the end of this year and unveiled in spring 2022 at a VIP event in London along with the designs of artists Shige and Carlos Torres. Forty other tattoo artists will also compete to make their Indian Chief designs a reality in steel and color later on. Once all the designs are ready, the public can vote on the best design.
