Electric motorcycle from Triumph: The project TRIUMPH TE-1

British electric motorcycle in sight: Triumph presents the TE-1 project

Triumph and the other partners of the TE-1 project are on schedule to develop an electric motorcycle. At the end of phase 2 of the four-phase development project, the partners will take stock of the situation and present the layout of the electric powertrain and battery and show the first styling sketches for the final prototype of the "Project TE-1".

In addition to Triumph, the TE-1 project involves Williams Advanced Engineering and Integral Powertrain Ltd and the WMG Institute at the University of Warwick. In the course of the project, phase 2 was completed as planned with the unveiling of the battery and powertrain prototype. Key project results to date include test results showing significant progress and innovation in weight, battery technology and powertrain performance.

Commenting on the TE-1 project, Nick Bloor, CEO of Triumph, said:"The completion of Phase 2 and the promising results achieved so far provide an exciting insight into the potential electric future and demonstrate the talent and innovative power of this unique British collaboration. There is no doubt that the outcome of this project will play an important role in our future efforts to meet our customers' ambition and desire for less environmental impact and more sustainable transport. This important project will form one of the foundations of our future electric motorcycle strategy, which will ultimately focus on delivering what riders expect from their TRIUMPH: the perfect balance of performance, handling and suitability for everyday use, with a real TRIUMPH character."

PROJECT TE-1: OVERVIEW

The TRIUMPH TE-1 project is a groundbreaking collaboration between TRIUMPH Motorcycles and the UK electrification experts, each focusing on the development of innovations in its field:
TRIUMPH Motorcycles is at the forefront of the project, providing advanced design and design expertise for motorcycle chassis, manufacturing technology and groundbreaking functional safety systems, and defining the performance features of the electric powertrain.
Williams Advanced Engineering delivers leading technology for lightweight battery design and integration and leverages its testing and development facilities to deliver an innovative battery management system in combination with a vehicle control unit.
• The e-Drive division of Integral Powertrain Ltd. is at the forefront of the development of customized, high-performance electric motors and a silicon carbide inverter, both of which are integrated into a single motor housing.
WmG, a institute based at the University of Warwick, offers electrification know-how and general expertise to drive innovation from research and development to commercial success. This is done through modeling and simulation, based on future market needs.
• The Office for Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV) is a team working to support the transition to zero-emission vehicles and the financing of charging station infrastructure across the UK. This will contribute to economic growth and help reduce greenhouse gas emissions and
Reduce air pollution on British roads. OZEV is part of the Department for Transport and the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy.
Innovate UK is a UK government research and innovation agency that supports business-led R&D funding and the growth of UK businesses.
