The middle class dominates

In July 2024, 13,158 motorcycles (everything except 125cc and scooters) were newly registered. This is a whopping 7.9 percent more than in July 2023. The Jan-Jul 2024 full-year view to date is also positive compared to 2023, with an increase of 2.8 percent.

Little has changed in terms of market shares. In July 2024, BMW continues to lead just ahead of Honda and Kawasaki. Yamaha, KTM and Ducati follow at a distance. There are also few surprises with the best-selling models. What is striking: The BMW R 1250 GS is still in 4th place among the new registrations. The R 1300 GS (1st place) sold more than three times as much in July 2024, but from our point of view it is still astonishing how many models the 1250 BMW apparently still produced.

Also well in the race is again the Honda CB 750 Hornet in 3rd place. In 6th place is the Honda CBR 600 RR - who would have thought that?! In general, it can be said that, apart from the two BMW GSs, the mid-range dominates the top 10 of new registrations.
