Now, with lighter wheels, the SP2 accelerates even faster – so much so that Ducati has been forced to recalibrate the excellent electronic rider aids. Straight line speed isn’t a massive jump over the standard V4S (like it is when comparing the Streetfighter SP to the standard bike) but is noticeable when you ride both bikes back-to-back.
Primarily, though, the SP2 is a glorious exercise in mass-micromanagement. At 381.4 pounds dry, it weighs the same as the original SP and is just 2.2 pounds lighter than the V4 S. But the...

The 2022 version of the Ducati Panigale V4 SP2 is the most serious trackday tool that Ducati have built to date. The very lightweight Carbon rims that ...
The first two years of the Panigale V4 production have proven fit and finish is generally good: paint and metal finishes hold up well, though the underbelly exhaust discolours and isn’t easy to...
The Panigale V4 SP2′s vastly improved chassis settings and lighter weight are the bike’s other main virtues. Carbon wheels replace Panigale V4 S’s forged-aluminium equivalents,...

Bear in mind, this was a wet session, and other than a tiny pulse through the lever, there was not even the slightest hint that the electronics were keeping everything together, other than the fact that a raging V4 was “only” pumping out 150 horsepower in a wet throttle map.

An optional accessory titanium high-mount exhaust drops an additional 11 pounds off the bike’s weight and pushes the SP2 up to 228 horsepower, just six shy of the radical V4 R’s 234. Potent, yes, but Ducati insists that this bike is built for enjoying the track instead of pure competition. This model is intended for serious track day enthusiasts.
The Ducati Panigale V4 first came out to the market in 2018 and, after two iterations, it changed a lot in 2020. It was not until this year that Ducati renewed the Panigale in quite an important way, with some changes to the core and electronics. The Panigale V4 SP2 has an exclusive design meant for racing on the track, but Ducati is reaching more customers with this model.

Savagely fast yet remarkably refined, like a house-trained leopard, the V4 SP is THE bike to be seen with/on and only those who know will know such is its deceptive looks. Unless you’re a Ducatista or are well-versed in modern day Italian V4’s, the sleek appearance shields its ostentatiousness.
If you’ve missed dry clutches on Ducatis, the SP2 has one. The dry clutch offers less resistance to the motor. A 520 chain, down from a 525, is lighter and allows the motor to spool up more...
The Ducati Panigale V4 S broke new ground for the company when it was released in 2018. Now, two years on, we see the first evolution of the species. Unless you knew where to look, you’d swear this was a V4 R. Photography by Milagro. I remember walking away from the 2018 Ducati Panigale V4 S test in Valencia impressed. Very impressed.
